No one is prepared for what will happen beyond these walls. Overcoming the returned spirit of Sumeragi, Corrin leads the army into the hall of Anankos. They reiterate that Gunter's murder of Scarlet was due to Anankos and not his own will, and urges him to continue living for hers and his late family's sake. Corrin forgives Gunter, saying that he still helped them regardless of his intentions, and that he will always be their friend. He expresses that this event made him deeply distrust royalty as a whole, and that he planned on using Corrin to enact revenge on Nohr and Garon and only befriended Corrin to use them against the man who took everything from him. He then tells Corrin that, when he rejected Garon's gift of dragon blood long ago, Garon punished him by killing his wife and child, as well as everyone else from his town. Sakura and Elise are able to heal him before he is gone, and he regains consciousness. Corrin asks why Gunter stabbed himself, he states that he will atone for his betrayal with his life. Gunter struggles and appears to prepare an attack, which he quickly directs the sword into himself, breaking free from Anankos' control. Corrin urges him to continue fighting back, to remember all the time they've shared together. ![]() When Gunter shows resistance even after being defeated, Azura begins to sing, loosening Anankos's hold on him. Corrin still refuses to back down, and mounts an attack on Gunter. Gunter scoffs at this, claiming himself to be Anankos himself. Corrin reaffirms their faith in the others, as well as their faith that Gunter can still be saved, believing him to merely be acting out of Anankos's manipulation. Gunter mocks Corrin's trust in others, saying how he wanted to rip every bit of innocence from them. When Corrin asks how long Gunter has been lying to them, he replies that it must have been the entire time they were together. Gunter cackles and takes a seat on the Vallite throne. They use these events to deduce that Gunter is both Scarlet's killer and the Vallite traitor within their group. ![]() Corrin denies this, and recalls what happened when they first entered Valla, when Scarlet pinned the flower to her armor, and how Gunter was the only other one to know of this flower. He states that the two had planned to gather the Hoshidan and Nohrian royal families to Valla to make it easy to kill them all. The group begins to suspect Corrin and Azura as Vallite spys, with Gunter pushing this view further. ![]() Before they can collect their thoughts, everyone save for Corrin and Azura are bombarded by a sudden magical attack. The group enters the throne room, only to find it completely empty. Corrin insists, reasoning that the Seal of Flames would be critical in damaging Anankos, let alone defeating him. Before entering, Corrin tells the group that they will enter first, though not without some resistance.
